DESCRIPTION: Join the ACS Bay Area, At-Large, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, DC, Los Angeles, Madison, Michigan, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Western New York Lawyer Chapters for a panel discussion that will address some of the lasting impacts of the Trump administration's immigration policies on children and young people, and the role of impact litigation and legislation in charting a new direction under the Biden-Harris administration. \n\nFeaturing:\n\nDr. Lisa Fortuna, Associate Professor and Vice-Chair of Psychiatry, at the University of California San Francisco and Chief of Psychiatry at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. She was previously medical director for child and adolescent psychiatry services for the Boston Medical Center, and faculty at Boston University Medical School. Lisa is triple board certified in general psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, and addiction medicine. She has extensive experience with child, immigrant, and refugee communities and training in PTSD diagnosis and treatment.\nAraceli Martinez-Olguín, Supervising Attorney for the National Immigration Law Center. Araceli Martínez-Olguín focuses on protecting immigrants' civil and workplace rights in the face of immigration enforcement and on defending the employment authorization and immigration relief available through Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). She is a seasoned impact litigator who has worked for over a decade to advance and defend immigrants' rights. She is also a board member of the ACS Bay Area Lawyer Chapter.\nSunil Varghese, Policy Director for the International Refugee Assistance Project, where he facilitates the advancement of IRAP's systemic advocacy positions to ensure and improve pathways to safety, with dignity and due process, for refugees and highly vulnerable individuals. He previously served as Counsel to U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, where he focused on immigration matters for the Senate Judiciary Committee.
