Rachna Sullivan, Judge, Hennepin County District Court\n\nIn Conversation With:\n\nAshley Wilson, Attorney, Fredrikson & Byron, P.A.; Member, ACS Minneapolis-St. Paul Lawyer Chapter Board of Directors\n\n\nBiography:\n\nRachna Sullivan\n\nAt the age of 17, Sullivan boarded a plane from New Delhi, India, embarking on a journey to pursue her dreams and studies in the United States. Sullivan is the first person in her family to attend law school, the first to become a lawyer, and the first Indian-American judge to serve on the Hennepin County District Court bench. \n\nJudge Sullivan graduated from Pace University in New York City, before attending the University of Minnesota Law School. Upon graduating from law school, Sullivan worked as an Assistant District Attorney at the King’s County District Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn, New York. She then moved to Minnesota and clerked for the Hon. James M. Rosenbaum, former Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court of the District of Minnesota. Sullivan was a partner at Rider Bennet LLP and most recently a shareholder at Fredrikson & Byron, P.A. \n\nGovernor Walz announced Sullivan’s appointment to the bench on August 23, 2019, with Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan noting, “Rachna Sullivan’s story is a story of the American dream and her commitment to public service is her own stated extensions to that.”\n&nbsp;\nAs the nation's leading progressive legal organization, ACS is committed to ensuring that all aspects of our events are accessible and enjoyable for all.
