DESCRIPTION: \nJoin ACS for a Leaders from Law Workshop on the evening of Friday, March 6, 2020 and all day on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at the University of Missouri School of Law in Columbia, MO. It will be presented by Heidi Li Feldman, a political activist and professor of law at Georgetown University Law Center. Dr. Feldman personally founded Leaders from Law, an organization dedicated to developing and promulgating training workshops like this one.\nThe application, due ASAP, can be found here. ACS membership is required to participate. To become an ACS member, you can join here.\n\n\nThe registration fee is $25 for students and $50 for lawyers. Please note that the registration fee is nonrefundable and space is limited, so please be sure you are able to attend the full 1.5 day workshop.\n\n\nGeneral overview:\n\nThe Leaders from Law workshop is geared toward progressive law students and recent law graduates (2014–present) who want to operationalize their interest in running for elected office and will explore four main themes:\n\nOrganization: How to organize yourself to run for office, especially offices where your legal skills and talents can make a difference.\nCompliance: How to make sure you are you are in compliance with relevant election law.\nNetwork Building: How to build connections and background useful to a candidacy.\nBalance: How to balance building a legal career while aiming to run for office.\n\n\nThe session will be interactive, and may involve light reading in advance.
