DESCRIPTION: Since the mid-1970s, we have recognized the right to vote for eligible incarcerated people in our country. In practice, however, making this right real has been a challenge that persists to this day.\nPlease join the ACS Bay Area Lawyer Chapter and advocates from the ACLU, Ella Baker Center, and the Office of the Alameda County Public Defender for a virtual lunch-hour panel to discuss the history of this fight for re-enfranchisement; updates on relevant, recent changes to California law; and examples of how communities can help bring the vote to people in confinement.\nThe American Constitution Society is a State Bar of California approved CLE provider. This event has been approved for 1.0 hour of California MCLE credit. Click here for the CLE Documentation, CA MCLE Cert. of Attendance, Non-CA CLE Cert. of Attendance, Evaluation Form, and Record of Attendance.\n\nFor details, click here: https://getinvolved.acslaw.org/component/events/event/1553
