DESCRIPTION: Voting rights remains a top priority for many civil rights groups, but many are less familiar with the civil rights of voters with disabilities and how they factor into the larger conversation and strategy on this issue. Please join the ACS Chicago Lawyer Chapter and the ACS Northwestern Student Chapter for a panel discussion that will provide an overview of the rights of people with disabilities when voting. The panelists will discuss how federal disability rights laws protect voters with disabilities as well as current litigation challenging barriers to voters with disabilities, including voter suppression laws and inaccessible polling places. We will also hear directly from impacted voters with disabilities who have faced barriers to vote in states where laws have made it harder to vote by mail and receive the assistance they need to vote.\nFeaturing: \nAmir Badat, Manager of the Voting Rights Defender and Prepared to Vote Projects; Voting Special Counsel, NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund\nJamelia Morgan, Professor of Law; Director, Center for Racial and Disability Justice, Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law\nBebe Novich, Senior Attorney for Voting Access, Equip for Equality\nShira Wakschlag, Senior Director, Legal Advocacy & General Counsel, The Arc of the United States\n\nFor details, click here: https://getinvolved.acslaw.org/component/events/event/1534
