DESCRIPTION: Breakthrough Twin Cities is a non-profit organization working with students who face barriers to post-secondary education, to achieve success in college and careers. Breakthrough is seeking volunteers to work as college essay coaches with our 11th graders on April 20th from 1pm-5pm.\nEssay coaches focus less on the mechanics and grammar of writing, and more on helping students articulate their own compelling personal narrative for college essays. ACS volunteers will have the opportunity to meet in-person with one or two students, hear their stories, and work with them to craft a compelling first draft of their college essay. Ice cream will be served to all volunteers.\nEssay coaching will take place at Mounds Park Academy in St. Paul.
