DESCRIPTION: Please join the ACS Washington State Lawyer Chapter as it welcomes Professor Eric Segall to discuss originalism's intellectual history. Professor Segall has written extensively on the subject, including the book Originalism As Faith. One of the central theories of the book is that originalism provides intellectual cover for the deployment of conservative judge's policy preferences. Rather than be constrained in any meaningful way, originalism allows conservative jurists to claim the high ground of having limiting principles without needing to actually limit their jurisprudence. Our discussion will cover his work, the history of originalism, and common critiques of the doctrine, among other topics.\n\n\nFeaturing: \n\nEric Segall, Ashe Family Chair Professor of Law, Georgia State University College of Law\n\nFor details, click here: https://getinvolved.acslaw.org/component/events/event/1175
