DESCRIPTION: Voting rights in the U.S. are at a perilous moment. Spurred on by false claims of a rigged presidential election in 2020, multiple state legislatures are imposing new restrictions on voters, curbing the independence of election workers, and infusing partisan election officials with more power. Unfortunately, federal legislation aimed at addressing these issues has stalled. \n\nWhere does reform come from, and what does it look like in 2022 and beyond? What are the implications for the upcoming midterms and the next presidential election in 2024? Join us for a discussion with Richard L. Hasen, a distinguished legal scholar, current professor at the University of California, Irvine, School of Law, and an expert in elections law to find out.\n\nProfessor Hasen will be addressing several Illinois law schools on Zoom from 12:15-1:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 31st. This event will be co-moderated by the ACS chapters from the University of Illinois College of Law and the University of Chicago Law School.\n \nAs the nation's leading progressive legal organization, ACS is committed to ensuring that all aspects of our events are accessible and enjoyable for all.
