Please join the Minnesota Lawyer Chapter of the American Constitution Society for our Seventh Annual Justice David Lillehaug Award for Distinguished Leadership Ceremony, where we honor a leader in the local legal community who has demonstrated a commitment to advancing a vision of the Constitution and law that enhances individual rights and liberties, and promotes genuine equality, access to justice, democracy, and the rule of law.

We congratulate this year's recipient, Teresa Nelson, the Legal Director of the ACLU of Minnesota. Terri began her career as a volunteer law clerk at the ACLU in 1995. For the past 31 years, she has been on the front lines defending the civil rights and liberties of Minnesota’s most vulnerable populations. Most recently, Terri and her team led the legal response to Operation Metro Surge by representing the plaintiffs in Tincher v. Noem and Hussen v. Noem, which assembled voluminous evidence that federal agents violated the constitutional rights of legal observers, journalists, protestors, and citizens wrongly detained by ICE.
