Big social platforms regulate users' speech at a massive scale. In doing so, these platforms compare themselves to newspapers and other media entities that "edit" third-party speech. Newspapers' editorial practices receive strong First Amendment protections from regulation. How well does the analogy extend to platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube that "edit" speech at a much larger scale?
