Between the COVID-19 pandemic, renewed calls for racial justice, and senseless violence at the hands of assault-style weapons, the need for federal action has never been more pressing. Yet, progress on these and many issues is stymied by the Senate filibuster.

Proponents of the filibuster assert it promotes bipartisanship and prevents any one extreme from passing laws. Opponents say that the filibuster enables a minority of senators to thwart the will of the majority and is a product of the racist campaigns against civil rights legislation. Against this backdrop, there is a groundswell of support for removing the filibuster and enacting other democratic reforms.

Join the ACS Columbus, Austin, Chicago, Colorado, Connecticut, DC, Houston, Los Angeles, Madison, New York, Northeast Ohio, Tampa and Western New York Lawyer Chapters for a conversation with ACS President and Former Senator Russ Feingold on the future of the filibuster and reforms to our democratic processes. He will share his unique insights on the filibuster, bipartisanship, and representative democracy, gleaned from almost two decades of experience in the U.S. Senate.
