Event Details

Should the District of Columbia be admitted into the union? Should its residents enjoy representation in Congress and other privileges of statehood on equal footing with states? What legal arguments might opponents of statehood raise, and do they have any merit? And what impact does DC's current status have on the rights and privileges enjoyed by its residents versus residents of other states?

Join the ACS DC Lawyer Chapter for a panel that will discuss the questions of constitutional law, public policy, and citizenship that the issue of DC statehood raises. This event is the first in the Sovereignty and Status series - a series of ACS events on statehood, citizenship, and status of the District and the U.S. territories.
