Event Details

Join the ACS Athens Lawyer Chapter, the ACS University of Georgia School of Law Student Chapter, Indivisible District 10, the Coalition For Good Governance, the Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement, the Economic Justice Coalition, and Athens for Everyone for a screening of the powerful new documentary, Suppressed: The Fight to Vote, about voter suppression in the 2018 election in Georgia.

We will then have a discussion about what we can all do to defend democracy in 2020. We’ll hear from experts about what works and what doesn't in the Athens and Georgia voting systems. Come and get engaged with people and organizations on the front lines of #TheFightToVote.

Speakers:

Jeanne Dufort, Volunteer, Coalition for Good Governance
Jesse Evans, Member, Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections
Linda Lloyd, Executive Director, Economic Justice Coalition

Moderated By:

Deborah Gonzalez, Former Representative, Georgia General Assembly (D-117)

The event will begin with the screening at 6:00 p.m. ET, followed by the panel discussion at 7:00 p.m. ET.
