Event Details

Money bail traps poor people in jail and strips their ability to exercise the constitutional guarantees promised to them by the Bill of Rights. Join the ACS Nashville Lawyer Chapter for a panel discussion on how money bail systems work, the disparities they create between the haves and have-nots, and the resulting harm to people, families, and communities. The panel will also discuss who profits from the money bail system, who perpetuates it, and just, fair alternatives.

Featuring:

Rahim Buford, Bail Fund Manager, Nashville Community Bail Fund
Dawn Deaner, Attorney & Executive Director, Choosing Justice Initiative; Former Public Defender of Metropolitan Nashville & Davidson County
Angela Henderson, Tennessee Statewide Organizer, Southerners on New Ground

Lunch, provided by ACS, will begin at 11:45 a.m. and the panel discussion will begin at noon.
