Event Details

Please join the ACS Houston Lawyer Chapter for a panel discussion and listening session on the #MeToo movement in the legal profession.

Does our profession present unique barriers to addressing harassment? How is sexual harassment connected to the lack of diversity in our workplaces and to other forms of discrimination and workplace inequity? How can lawyers become leaders in changing our own workplaces so that we can be authentic leaders in addressing harassment for our clients and society? What roles do law schools, employers, judges, and bar associations have in perpetuating the problems as well as in being part of the solutions?

After the panel discussion, we will host listening sessions as part of our work with the national ACS #MeToo Task Force on this issue. Please join us to discuss the issues we face and help us brainstorm ideas and best practices for improvement. We are hoping for input from all corners of the profession and encourage those who work as non-lawyers in the legal field to attend. For those who do not wish to share their experience in person, anonymous testimonials can be submitted here. All shared experiences, including any submitted anonymously and indicated to be read aloud, will be conveyed without reference to names or locations.

Featuring:

Hon. Lee Rosenthal, Chief Judge, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas
Hon. Lauren Reeder, Judge, 234th Civil District Court
Shauna Clark, Head of Employment and Labor, Norton Rose Fulbright LLP
Grace Ho, Senior Counsel, Chevron

This event is cosponsored with the Houston Association of Women Attorneys (AWA).

The panel will run from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
