Event Details

In light of a recent state law mandating the placement of “In God We Trust” in all Kentucky public schools, join the ACS Kentucky Lawyer Chapter, the Louisville Chapter of Americans United for Separation of Church & State, and the ACLU of Kentucky for a panel discussion on the role of religion in public education.

The panelists will answer a number of questions, including:
  • Is it acceptable to open Board meetings, athletic events, graduations and other school-sponsored events with a prayer?
  • What can be taught in bible literacy classes?
  • Are religious songs are allowed at choir and band concerts?
  • Can teachers invite their students to join them at church activities?
  • What is the role of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes?
Featuring:
Jason Crosby, Legal Fellow, Freedom from Religion Foundation
Heather Gatnarek, Staff Attorney, ACLU of Kentucky
Colin McNamara, Minister, Crescent Hill Baptist Church

Light appetizers and beverages will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the panel will begin at 6 p.m.
