This term, the U.S.Supreme Court decided two of the most pivotal political decisions in the last decade. The Court held that (1) partisan gerrymandering is a "political question" beyond the reach of the judicial branch and that (2) the Trump Administration could not (at least not yet) add a citizenship question to the Census.
Please join the ACS Bay Area Lawyer Chapter and the ACLU of Northern California as we hear leading practitioners and academics discuss the following questions: What do these decisions mean for the future of our political process? Will extreme partisan gerrymandering get worse? Is there any hope? Is the census case over? And what is happening with the Department of Justice Attorneys working on this case?
Featuring:
Robin Johansen, Partner, Remcho Johansen and Purcell
Mollie Lee, Senior Staff Attorney, ACLU of Northern California
Bertrall Ross, Chancellor's Professor of Law, UC Berkeley School of Law
