Join the ACS Maryland Lawyer Chapter for a panel discussion about technology and accessibility. Technology has been one of the great leveling forces in our society, especially for people with disabilities. When designed without accessibility in mind, as it all too often is, technology can create as many barriers as it eliminates–barriers that serve only to add to the systemic discrimination that people with disabilities already face in society and needlessly inhibit them from attaining their full economic potential.

While the struggle against inaccessible technology and the practices that give rise to such inaccessibility remains a concern, attendees will learn about victories in that struggle, which continue to level our sense of equality in the Digital Age.

Featuring:

James T. Fetter, Disability Rights Fellow, Brown, Goldstein, and Levy; Member, ACS Maryland Lawyer Chapter Board of Directors
Gary C. Norman, Chair, Maryland Commission on Civil Rights
John G. Paré, Jr., Executive Director for Advocacy and Policy, National Federation of the Blind

Moderated by:

Lori Markland, Executive Director of the Technology Assistance Program, Maryland Department of Disabilities
