Event Details
Join the American University Washington College of Law and Georgetown University Law Center Student Chapters of the American Constitution Society for a panel with constitutional law experts about the following question: can originalism be progressive in the 21st century?
With the current ideological makeup of the U.S. Supreme Court, originalist arguments seem to have a lot of influence on the outcome of Constitutional interpretation. For those of us who hope to advance progressive agendas and ideas, can we make analogous arguments? Can an originalist interpretation of the document support medicaid expansion, social security, or the Green New Deal?
A full panel will be announced soon. The event will be followed by a short reception with refreshments.
